History Evolution |
In April, 1992, Kunming Education Committee authorized to establish Yunnan Educational and Scientific Training School. It is one of the earliest schools which was run by society force Committee. The former Yunnan Education Committee authorized to change the name of the school, that was Yunnan Economic Management School in May, 1995. It became general specialized secondary school in May, 2001. In October, 2003, the college was awarded the provincial specialized secondary school. The college was appraised the only country specialized secondary school in Yunnan province in January 2004. In May 2004, the college promoted to be a higher vocational college with the name of Yunnan College of Business Management. |
In 1992, Mr. Suncheng and his friends were inspired by Deng Xiaoping’s speech. They established Yunnan Educational and Scientific Training School in East Jiaochang road, Wuhua district, Kunming city, Yunnan province. |
From 1992 to 1994, at the beginning, we mainly cooperated with some other specialized secondary schools in Yunnan province. We finished teaching tasks through renting school buildings and engaged some teachers from some colleges. At that time, school scale and facilities were limited and the total number of teachers and students were only 300. |
In 1995, with the development of the economy and the demand of the talentes and the revolution of the personnel mechanism, people changed their mind on education and employment concept. The college adapted to the new developing demand, and was authorized to change name into Yunnan Business Management School with 1600 students. |
In November, 1997, the college began the constructions of teaching buildings and dormitories which covered an area of 68.1 mu at 296, Haitun Road, Wuhua District, Kunming City, Yunnan province. The constructions had and ploughed into using in August , 1998. |
With the use of the first phase building, the college possessed more and more modern teaching methods and living facilities. Running levels was Secondary education focus and combination of adult high school, vocation training and three-year program self-study. And we confirmed multiply structure system on computer, English and economics. |
In 1999, with the authority of Provincial Education Committee, the college began to award diploma dependently. At the same year, we got the qualification to hire foreign experts, which started cooperating with foreign countries. |
In 2000, we began to enroll specialized secondary school students. There were 3100 students in the college in 2002, and we formed special majors such as computer and foreign languages. |
| In April, 2001, the college awarded “Excellent Unit of Running Educational Instutiens with Social Resources”. In October, 2003, it was awarded by Yunnan Provincial Education Department as “Provincial Level Qualified Secondary School” and teaching and living facilities were perfected with over 4,000 students. |
In March, 2004, the college was awarded “National Level Key Secondary School”. The following year of May 18, authorized by Yunnan Provincial Government, the school became a higher vocational college and took Yunnan Business Management School as its name. It recruited over 700 students that year. |
YCBM enlarged its campus 45 mu in its second phase of construction starting in January, 2005. Hence, the college underwent many dimensions of construction in the aspects like hardware, scale, faculty capacity and management model, etc. The number of students increased to 6800. |
In July 2006, the college invested 100 million RMB for its third phase of construction and expanded over 100 mu. In this phase, we built 7 new student apartment buildings, a gymnasium, the No. 4 academic building and a standard size field and track. The same year, we got a special fund of 3.4 million RMB for the construction of a practical training center from the office of the central government of vocational education in the Ministry of Finance. |
In October 2007, the students exceeded 9,200. We signed a project proposal with the government of Anning City for an area of land, 1,000 mu, for a potential future campus. |
In September 2008, the scale of students exceeded 12,000 and the facilities of the third phase were being put to use. The college is heading to become a modern university. This will be accomplished by a steady improvement to its specialization, faculty and infrastructure. |
In 2009, 520 mu of land was acquired by the vocational education base to construct the campus. The project was started in October 15, and the construction of the infrastructure was a complete success. |
In June 2010, inter-schools education achieved some breakthroughs. E.g. cooperation with the Yunnan People's Broadcasting Station to established “International Network Broadcasting Institute of Yunnan College of Business Management”; cooperation with Zhejiang Geely Technician College to set up the "Yunnan Campus of Zhejiang Geely technician College”. November 2010, a cooperation agreement was signed with Yunnan University of Finance and Economics to establish “The Institute of Modern Service Trade”, namely four years higher vocational education. |
In September 2010, the first-phase of Anning Campus was completed; more than 20 million square meters of school buildings were built. Out of the total 16,500 students enrolled in the college, 4,500 were now studying in Anning Campus. |
Since 2010, our college has received 15 national award and 30 provincial award successively. It has become an influential and leading college in terms of its professional level, teaching resources and quality in the province. |
