Since 1999, the college has been employing foreign teachers to teach on campus. Now, 15 foreign teachers from USA, UK, Australia, Canada, Sweden, France, Japan, Korea and other countries are teaching on campus. We have been implementing small class system, introducing advanced western teaching methods, and updating our teaching concepts. There is an oral English center and an English club ran by foreign teachers. Our foreign teachers have also joined in a variety of contests related to English, for instance, English dramas, English movies dubbing and interpreting and English song competitions. They have enhanced students’ interest and created a favorable environment for learning English. |

In 2009, Our college student from Foreign Language Department Lin Qiang won the 1st prize of Vocational College Students’ spoken English match in the quarter-final of Yunnan competition area and also won the 3rd prize of National Vocational College Students’ Spoken English Contest in the final competition. In 2010, there were 6 students winning the 1st prize, 14 students the 2nd prize and 29 students the 3rd prize in the National College Student English Competition. On November, 2010, the quarter-final contest of Yunnan competition area of the 7th National Vocational College Students’ Spoken English Contest successfully held in YCBM; and the students of YCBM Ren Huan won the 1st prize of professional group and Zhou Jing won the 1st prize of non-professional group. |
